Field Notes

Description:

The Red Kite is unmistakable in flight, with its bright rufous forked tail, light grey head, and prominent light windows on the wings. Red Kites are 60 to 70 cm long with a 175–179 cm wingspan.

Habitat:

Fields and remnant forest, rural.

Notes:

The red kites had gone from my area for the winter but have been back for about one week.

Thanks Malcolm. There are quite a few around at the moment. I would hope to see one perching in the next few days.
Beautiful series Daniele. I used to fly with these birds in the UK. Still see them here but not so often, mostly around Madrid.
