Description:

Family: Nymphalidae (Brush-footed butterflies) Sub-family: Satyrinae. Beige with big pearly eyes. Tolerates more shade than most other butterflies. Prefers tree sap, carrion and scat over flower nectar.

Habitat:

Open woodlands/lawn edge in some shrubs.

I agree Hayden G. They may not be as colorful as a Monarch or Red Admiral, but I love their beautiful eyes and I love that they keep me company on my woodland walks.
Love these guys? I often see them fluttering about from tree to tree in the forest during the summer months.
