Field Notes

Description:

A small, active white heron, the Snowy Egret is found in small ponds as well as along the ocean shore. Its black legs and yellow feet quickly identify it. It has a dark bill. This one was actively running back and forth feeding.

Habitat:

Upper Texas Coast (UTC) 079 PINE GULLY PARK: This multi-use facility offers another view of Galveston Bay, and the trees within the park are worth inspecting for migrant landbirds. The wetland has been restored within this park, and should be checked for waterbirds.
