Field Notes

Description:

This tree with extremely bright green, wide, large leaves is known as a banana tree! The tree itself can grow up to 7.5 meters tall. The leaves of the tree are a common plant used for daily needs such as plates to put food on, a place mat, or to be used in a recipe! The bananas normally grow right next to the bark of the tree, somewhat connected to the leaf. It usually has bananas growing on it, but in this picture they have already been picked so there aren't any fully grown ones.

Habitat:

I have seen bananas everywhere around the world! Even while I'm in the car, I'll see a banana tree off to the side of the road! I usually see them in rain forests, or other forests filled with different kinds of trees.

Notes:

Did you know that bananas are the most popular fruit in the world?!
