Description:

Ceriagrion glabrum is a species of damselfly in family Coenagrionidae. Its common names include Common Orange, Common Pond Damsel, Common Pond-damsel and Orange Waxtail. It is found in sub-saharan Africa, specifically Angola, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Réunion, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Habitat:

Its natural habitats are rivers, intermittent rivers, marsh lands, shrub-dominated wetlands, swamps, freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, and freshwater springs.

The males are orange and green coloured whilst the females range from light brown to dark brown depending on their maturity. The darkened colours in females aid in reproduction.
