Description:

The yellow admiral or Australian admiral (Vanessa itea) is a butterfly native to Australia, New Zealand, Lord Howe Island, and Norfolk Islands. Medium size butterfly with Wingspan up to 6 cm . Caterpillars feed on plants of the nettle family. Including the introduced to Australia stinging nettle

Habitat:

Been a couple of years since I last saw one of these butterflies. I noticed it as I went out into the backyard earlier today. Was surprised to see a butterfly since it's mid winter here.
