Field Notes

Description:

The dark green, roundish-lanceolate leaves of this plant were smooth on the upper side. The under-side of the leaf was a light brown color and felt like rough paper. The 'sides' of the leaves were curved inwards, creating a bowl-like shape. Despite this bowl-shape that would be filled up by rainwater, the long skinny drip tip of the leaf let the excess water run off. The leaf was about 10.5cm long at the longest point, and 4cm at the widest point. Leaf margin was entire, venation netted pinnate, and whorled arrangement. The bark of the plant was very skinny and rough. This plant was very short and only came up to my ankle.

Habitat:

This plant was found in a secondary rainforest located in Singapore American School, near the pathway and under the sunlight.
