Field Notes

Description:

Cavity made in a dead tree trunk. The top of the tree had snapped off at about 5 1/2 ft. The trunk was around 7in. across. The hole was only about 4 feet off the ground and the inside of the cavity was smooth, its floor several inches below the opening.

Habitat:

Riparian woodland near Lewisville Lake.

I felt it was low too, Jemma, but the tree and hole were not very large in the scheme of things, and the hole very neatly hollowed out. If it was a mammal, it would have to be something fairly small.
4 ft is not to high up! Could it be a mammal/
