Field Notes

Description:

Long-decurved bill blacker at tip, shorter, dark legs, barred tail, widespread summer migrant to Tasmania. Light eyebrow.

Habitat:

Flock seen along the Pitt Water Causeway on the East Coast of Tasmania. Estuaries, brackish water, tidal marshes, flooded fields, sewage ponds.
Breeds in ne Siberia and nw Alaska.

Notes:

Although this ID seems to be the more plausible one for the location, I am wondering if photo 1 might be a Black-tailed Godwit? Limosa limosa? this would be a vagrant to Tasmania if it is.
