Guyana collared Lizard
tropidurus hispidus
3.66218, -59.3542
Field Notes
Description:
These large lizards were literally everywhere (as seen in photo 3) at Caiman lodge in Guyana, they were usually seen sunbathing on the stone steps at the front of the lodge and were fairly accepting of human presence and let me pretty close to them to take photos. They are the largest of the tropidurae genus and are also classed as 'sit and wait' feeders.
Habitat:
These ones were seen at the Caiman house in Yupukari, Guyana but they do range from Venezuela, through the Guianas and down to Brazil.
