nice spotting of jež! :)
Thank you, I was a crazy summer, I don't know which kind of animal didn't live around my house, I though I'm living in a zoo, and they were all feeding on my cat's food :)
That's sounds wonderful, I went quickly through your photos and saw that little hedgehog, that is too cute :) and keen eye I must say, I wouldn't see the difference straight away, so tnx again!
Ι've been raising hedgehogs for several years, but I never managed to see an Erinaceus roumanicus...They look like they are melanistic forms of the E. Concolor, but actually they are now a separate species...I guess that further north in Greece, they are more common, than the E. Concolor, wich is abundant in my area...
OK, I guess you are an expert :) tnx for correcting, 1st you see, I have 3 in my garden :D will send you one, my cat doesn't particularly like them :P
That's the Northern white-breasted hedgehog, Erinaceus roumanicus, it was once believed a subspecies of the E.Concolor..Its the first one I see so far! Great spotting, thanks for sharing :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_white-breasted_hedgehog
