Description:
Ardisia pyramidalis (Cav.) Pers. (Myrsinaceae / Primulaceae), synonym of Ardisia serrata (Cav.) Pers., Aunasin / Gadong-gadon (local names), is a treelet 7.5 m tall, with a girth of 7cm. The bark is whitish, inner bark yellow. Leaf blades are elliptic-lanceolate and show 21 pairs of secondary nerves below. The inflorescences are terminal panicles of pink flowers. It is used as a medicinal plant. Roots decoction is used a drink to treat infection of the genitals and to assuage toothache, while leaves are used externally to mitigate headaches.
Habitat:
Mount Makiling Forest Reserve in Los Baños, Laguna. A Philippine-native with geographical localization in Mount Makiling, it is also found in other parts of Southeast Asia like Malaysia and Indonesia.
