Description:

Th shield bug was hidden under the leaf and had camouflaged itself pretty well. It was 1 inch in length and 1/2 inch in width. Shield bugs have glands in their thorax between the first and second pair of legs which produce a foul smelling liquid. This liquid is used defensively to deter potential predators and is sometimes released when the bugs are handled carelessly.

Habitat:

Found under a leaf
