Field Notes

Description:

Male in breeding plumage. The Purple finch has brown wings and tail. The male has a raspberry red head, breast and rump. Notched tail and straight bill. Streaked back. In a flock of at least 8 birds.

Habitat:

Spotted in eastern Washington. Conifer forest with fire damage.
