Field Notes

Description:

Kind of nasty-looking spider (but I'm sure it has a "great personality"...), with bulbous round abdomen. Probably a female. Abdomen grayish-brownish, legs reddish brown. A shy spider, not pleased when I uncovered its hiding place. When frightened, it tucks up its legs, and they come up high enough to mostly cover its body.

Habitat:

Cranny in an old rotting log, in deciduous woods.

Thanks, everyone! BugEric (great name, btw), I will submit these to BugGuide now. I LOVE BugGuide! It's my go-to site for arthropod ID :)
Please consider submitting these nice images to Bugguide.net, in the "ID Request" section. You'll probably get confirmation through there, and bolster their database, too. No Wadotes for Georgia there, yet. Keep up the great work!
My husband, BugEric, helped me with the ID. Great spider!
This spider makes me think of Halloween, a little creepy!
