Field Notes
Description:
It has a long grey bill, long head and longish legs. There is a buff head and underparts, a dark crown, and dark grey back and wings. The tail and wing patches are chestnut, and there is a white crescent on the upper tail which is visible in flight.
Habitat:
Found in the tropical regions in Central and South America, the Indian subcontinent, Africa, and southern Texas in freshwater lakes and ponds.
