Field Notes

Description:

First Spring sighting of my osprey--third season I've seen in the same location--a signal tower in the middle of the Delaware River. There was a large nest just below the railings on a small deck--but the Coast Guard removed it just before Winter arrived. I hope the birds build another as this is directly in front of my home... and the view from my bedroom window...

Habitat:

Tidal area of the Delaware River--suburban. Mud flats at low tide, with spatterbock and other river plants in the mud.
