JP is right, it's a Ground-Dove. Mourning and Spotted Doves are larger with different patterning.
I also found this (in portuguese), and the sound is very, very similar: http://www.wikiaves.com.br/rolinha-roxa# Columbina talpacoti But indeed, is very similar to the Zenaida macroura, Backyardphotographer99.
i'm not sure, sanmiggums. it could be a mourning dove.
I think it is Columbina genus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbina_(genus)
