Field Notes

Description:

The thick roots of this plant are used all over the world as a spice. The leaves are 35cm long and 7cm long. The venation is parallel and the texture is very leathery. The leaf shape is linear, the margin is entire, and the arrangement is alternate. There were no flowers on this plant but they are know to have large, bright red flowers.

Habitat:

Secondary rainforest towards the edge of the forest.
