Field Notes

Description:

Family: Erebidae. Subfamily: Arctiinae. Tribe: Arctiini (Tiger Moths) A common white with black spots hairy moth resembling a dalmatian. Total Length 2.9 cm (Not quite 1.25 inches) Wingspan 4.5 -6.8 cm (1.75 - 2/67 inches). Legs are black and white striped. Hosts: Deciduous trees and low plants including apples, cabbage, corn and potatoes.

Habitat:

Found on the back deck near woodlands and meadow with plentiful trees and actually corn and cabbage was growing in the garden also.

AKA Dalmatian Moth. LOL (If you are really paying attention you will see this.) Lost file photo (May 2012)
