Field Notes

Description:

When we found this tree it had many fruits. They were usually in bunches. They are very hard and light green. When you cut it open, it has many little brown seed-like things. Those are what make the chocolate. This tree's fruits have adapted to grow on the trunk of the tree because it is too heavy for the branches to hold.

Habitat:

We found the cacao tree in the Singapore American School forest. It was a very shady area. There was only one cacao tree with only a few fruits on it.
