Field Notes

Notes:

There's a nest of these large and very aggressive ants living in our backyard. Theirs is a corner of the garden I prefer to avoid (I was bitten there a couple of months ago - the pain was crazy!!) but they will roam far and wide so we encounter them everywhere in the yard, and they like to forage on plants. Apparently they like to jump (hence the common name) but I haven't seen this myself.

I have seen them hunt photographers. Me! They were attracted by the footfall and in the end I left because I couldn't watch all the bushes at the same time. Vicious! NIce spotting
nice spotting! I almost put my tent up on their nest a few months ago. crazy how fast they are
