Field Notes

Description:

The wild curry leaf I measured was 4 and a half centermeters long, and 2 centermeters wide. It doesn't have any fruit or flowers, the leaf shape is elliptic, it has a entire margin, netted pinnate venation, pinnately compound arrangement, and the leaf feels smooth.

Habitat:

The plant was found near the entrance of the Singapore American School's secondary rainforest. Singapore is located off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, 85 miles north of the equator.

Notes:

These leaves are available year round, they are able to be used as medicine, mostly as an anti-diabetic, and contain iron. Wild curry can also be used in food as a spice, like in a soured soup dish called Maju Krueng.
