Caesars Mushroom
Aminita caesarea
-6.74066, 31.0695
Field Notes
Description:
Some kind of extraorindary fungus. I barely noticed it at first, popping out from the base of an old ant mound or termite mound. It has a sort of a stalk/cup that is old and broken down, and this glossy bright orange puff is sort of exuding out of it. It looked like it might sort of pop free and rolll away. The surface was very smooth, it didn't seem to have any particular smell. It was only about 4cm across.
Habitat:
Open woodland on the side of the road on the way to Katavi NP
Notes:
Now after some time, looking into this mushroom, I think it is not a puff, but it is a mushroom full, and most likely Aminita... and I think edible ones.. although the distribution is confusing... maybe you have other ideas.. but I am sticking with this for now.
