Field Notes

Description:

Looks big, but he is small only about 4cm across. It looks like a bracket fungi, but it is on a stalk and popping up straight out of the ground, bizzare.

Habitat:

Seen in leaf litter in open woodland along side the road to Katavi NP

Notes:

I was travelling in a group, most of whom don't appreciate the littler creatures. But they appreciated a ciggarette. So every couple of hours we would stop, various party members would spread out chatting and smoking, and I would dissapear into the bush along the roadside. Although we only stopped for 10-15 minutes, i always found at least a dozen things of interest within a very small area. The forest and rain forest in Western Tz is just full of life, its awesome.
