Field Notes

Description:

Family: Hesperiidae. Very small, very bright yellow/orange wings with dark brown. Adorable skipper. Only 1 inch (2.5 cm) long.

Habitat:

Meadow on property with abundant weeds and flowers. Spot was on some shrubs at the edge of the meadow and the beginning of the open woodlands based upon the plant in the photo.

Oh goody!!! A Fiery Skipper. I never found one before. Thanks for the ID and thanks Dan. I couldn't believe I just found it now - one photo among hundreds of moth photos. HA!
