Field Notes

Description:

This Tiny Shrub Frog is very small, measuring about 1.5 cm long and 0.8 cm wide. Its whole body is a dark brown color, helping it to camouflage with the ground. There is a black colored splotch on the area around its eyes. On its back, there are many orange spots that are in vertical lines from along its back. The frog's eyes are yellow colored, but its pupil is black. It has two hind legs and two forelegs.

Habitat:

This frog was hopping around in an open sandy area that is surrounded by many clustered shrubs. The climate there was cloudy and I took a picture of it in the early evening. It was on the sandy area at that moment, but later, it hopped away into some shrubs. This was in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Notes:

There seemed to be quite a few of these frogs in that area, but most of them hopped away into the shrubs. Also, I think that this frog is very good at camouflaging, because I almost mistook it for a part of the ground.
