Field Notes

Description:

1 inch. A hairy, brown moth with white, orange, and darker brown markings. It had a Y shaped hump on the shoulders. I shall call it the Rorsach Test moth, What picture do you see in the markings?

Habitat:

It was hiding behind a tuft of grass. It is supposedly nocturnal.

Thank you all! I'd sworn off taking pictures of invertebrates because I never know what they are, but this moth was so beautiful I had to take some pictures. Friendly as well, it stayed on my finger.
