Field Notes

Description:

A Tonna Galea shell, spotted dead, in the small fishing boat harbour of Agria Bay, Volos, Greece. My guess is that it was accidently fished, eventually it was released, but it did not survive. That species of marine snail is one of the largest in the Greek seas, and is protected. It lives in the sandy deeps, and is a common species in Pagasitikos gulf.
