Field Notes

Description:

This male has a bright green head but lacking the white neck ring of the mallard. The body is distinctively rusty brown.

Habitat:

Found in company of many other species of water birds in the local lake. These are found worldwide but in Australia are restricted to waterways of the south of the continent.
