Field Notes

Description:

Small butterfly? about 2cm long body, body brown and yellow stripes, wings brown with yellow spots. Most oddly was the way the wings set not open and not closed , but resting in a sort of half folded position. face very furry, eyes black, medium length black antenna.

Habitat:

Seen in grassy soft foliage plants in undergrowth of acacia and palm woodland in Katavi NP

Notes:

Thanks for the family hint Sukanya.. now I know about skippers and resting wings and curved antennae tips... and I am sure this is the one. :)

Skipper butterfly. Hesperidae...that is all I can say...hope it is a pointer you can use.
