Description:

Acrididae; Cyrtacanthacridinae; Valanga nigricornis (Burmeister, 1838). This Short-horned Grasshopper is a nymph. Its wings are just beginning to develop, as you can see in the third picture.

Habitat:

Spotted in our backyard vegetable plot, on String Beans (Vigna unguiculata
sesquipedalis), known in the Philippines as Sitaw. Plant identification - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Sitaw
