Field Notes

Description:

A winspan of about 6cm, this male has light fawn wings with a dark stripe running through the centre. This stripe is not present on the larger female. The underwings are a beautiful bright orange with a thick dark stripe and a row of dark dots running underneath that stripe. I only wish I could have got a glimpse of the underwings.

Habitat:

The caterpillars feed on certain plants in the Myrtaceae family. This includes Eucalyptus sp. of which there are many nearby.
