Description:

Averaging 5-6mm, these creatures are in limbo regarding their classification. They may not be arthropods at all, but in a Class of their own. Their lavender color makes them really stand out on a wintery day.

Habitat:

These tiny springy things mass in purple swirls on calm waters like ponds. In the photo above they have congregated on a 4'wide pond, but later migrated under the door of the nearby house.
