Field Notes

Description:

Initail picture shows the yellow flower while last photo shows the unique seed structure which is much different from California Burclover's(Medicago polymorpha) seeds which are in a spiky round fruiting body. Burclover(Medicago polymorpha) usually have grooves at the end of their leaves making them more heart shaped compared to Black Medic.

Habitat:

Native throughout Europe, north Africa, the near east, and most of Asia, including India, China, and Korea. It is naturalized in central Asia, Japan, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, and much of South America.
