King Cobra

The king corba, the hammadryad (a cooler name honestly). This is an amazing species. Probably the cobra people think about when they think cobras, even if they include spitting venom (which thankfully this species isn't capable of). King cobras are huge, easily reaching ten to thirteen feet long, the largest specimen was 19 feet long. Jesus. I can't help but feel if this being the "king" cobra and the California "king"snake killing and eating other snakes is a coincidence. When you're the king of the snakes you can take the name I guess. The king cobra is extremely dangerous and carries its deserved fearsome reputation in its range. Despite having "cobra" in its name its not in the Naja spp. genus, being in a group all its own. Bites are fatal to humans but they tend to avoid humans more than anything. As always, respect nature.
