Description:
The masked lapwing is the largest representative of the family Charadriidae. It measures from 30 to 37 cm (12 to 15 in) in length and has a wingspan of 75–85 cm (30–33 in). The subspecies found in the southern and eastern states of Australia and in New Zealand (V. m. novaehollandiae), and often locally called the spur-winged plover, has a black neck-stripe
Habitat:
Saw this particular bird in a small park not far from where I live. The park once had swings and slippery dip etc when I was a kid, but were removed years ago, and it is now just an open grassy piece of land with no trees.
Notes:
It is also known as a Plover and is active in the day and night.
