Field Notes

Description:

Long black and yellow hoverfly about 8 mm long. The rear legs appear bow-legged which tells me this is the male and the metafemur has a row of spines along the ventral edge.

Habitat:

Radish along stream. Widespread distribution of this species including most of North America and Europe.
