Congratulations zaidirazak, this great series is our Spotting of the Day! A firefly larva (family Lampyridae) feeds on a snail in our Spotting of the Day! Fireflies are winged beetles that use bioluminescence during twilight to attract mates (as adults) or preys (as larvae). Firefly larvae live in the soil and leaf litter, and come out at night for preys such as slugs, snails, earthworms, and other invertebrates. Firefly larvae have been shown to deliver toxic digestive fluids directly into their preys, then sucking out the liquefied body content.
