Field Notes

Description:

About 4 cm. I think that there is a chance that these two individuals are a male and a female i from the same species. It looked like they had a "go" on eachother. If I am mistaken, then I will just separate the spottings later on.

Habitat:

Bridge over a river. Meadow area.

Thanks a lot !!! :)
Agree with Kate, both are red-veined dropwings.
Yes, probably both the female red-veined dropwing. I think the amount of colour on the wings is variable. What makes it distinctive is where the black pattern on the abdomen is, and the white and black thorax.
Kate and Fanie. This series shows two different individuals. The first three photographs shows a dragonfly with more cooration on the wings and I think that the body pattern are a bit different to the second dragofly in the last three photos. Still think it is a red-veined dropwing, female?
This looks like it might be the female red-veined dropwing: http://www.sntc.org.sz/biodiversity/sdodonataphotos.asp?pid=1277&spid=1159
