Field Notes

Description:

A dark ( almost black) shield bug with bands of deep red on the legs and antennae.The connexivum, which is the dilated lateral margin of the abdomen, looked striking with alternating colours of black and red. <br> This bug was spotted laying beautiful green pearly eggs.

Habitat:

Spotted on a young eucalyptus tree in a nature reserve - Koolamara Waters.

Notes:

This is my first spotting of this bug and it was extra special because it was laying eggs ! <br> Family: PentatomidaeSubfamily: Pentatominae <br> Tribe: Carpocorini

Thank you armadeus.4 and Sukanya. She was so focused on laying eggs that I was allowed some time to get the best shot possible with my simple camera. These bugs are otherwise very difficult to photograph, in my experience.
