Medium-sized Anteater, prehensile tail, long sticky tongue adapted to extract ants and termites
Habitat:
forests from Mexico to northern South America
Notes:
I spotted this Northern Tamandua at La Selva. It was sleeping on a large tree along the main river at the Biological Station. I stayed with it for over half an hour, waiting for it to occasionally wake up and change positions. That's when I was able to get some better shots of it. I haven't seen many Northern Tamanduas in my life and this was one of my best experiences with on.
