I was only convinced both are histrionica after I excluded all other possibilities - which I would have been unable to if literature sources were unknown to me . . . So, grace to your documentations, we know about the pattern variability!
Thank you thaptor! Yes, this one looks like the Notozona histrionica on the web. The Chiapan one is more striking. I hadn't thought they were the same species.
= Notozona histrionica (Baly, 1865). Have excluded all other spp. of Mex. checklist. http://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollections/bca/navigation/bca_12_06_01s/bca_12_06_01sshowplate.cfm?id=406 exacly like yours, http://naturalista.biodiversidad.co/taxa/309955-Notozona-histrionica with smaller maculae, that's all.
Thank you Lisa for Fun Fact :) Always interesting…..and fun :)
Project Noah Fun Fact: Flea beetle is a general name applied to the small, jumping beetles of the leaf beetle family (Chrysomelidae). ). They are similar to other leaf beetles, but characteristically have the hindleg femora greatly enlarged. These enlarged femora allow for the springing action of these insects when disturbed. Flea beetles can also walk normally and fly. ~Wikipedia Flea Beetle (Notozona sp.) spotted in San Luis Potosí, Mexico by PN member LaurenZarate. https://www.facebook.com/projectnoah/photos/np.1455390065502939.1102992471/10156476176085603/?type=3&notif_t=notify_me_page
