Purple dead-nettle

Lamium purpureum, a common spring flowering plant known as purple dead-nettle, red dead-nettle, red henbit or purple archangel, is a herbaceous flowering plant native to Europe and Asia.

One of the most distinctive characteristics of Purple dead-nettle is the purple tint of the young leaves at the top of the stem, see photo 2.

It grows to up to 20 cm in height. The leaves have fine hairs and wavy to serrated margins. It has pink to purple flowers.
