Field Notes

Description:

This parrot looked to be about 12" long, and a beautiful emerald green, with a red forehead, yellow cheek and white eye-rings. Its crown is powder blue. In the photo it looks like it has a black bar on its shoulder, but that's just a shadow of a twig.

Habitat:

This parrot was spotted in an unknown tree, eating the fruits, on the grounds of the Tikal ruins in Guatemala.

Notes:

The second photo, with its elegantly posed parrot showing full underparts and eating typical fruits, reminds me of an Audubon print.
