Field Notes

Description:

I am not sure this is a Tarantula, it was very large, black and white marks on the top of the legs, not too hairy, very mild mannered, I touched it with a stick to be able to get different pictures and it barely moved, I have never seen this kind before around the garden.

WOW!! Thank you so much, bayucca, for all the Links and research. Welcome to PN, danproud. I have 14 spotting's of Spiders and only 4 have an ID, 2 of them by bayucca. : )
Stefan Hillebrand, another experienced spiderman confirmed Ancylometes sp. He would not dare to confirm Bogotensis 100%, but with Dan's suggestion of the same, I think that we can call this one: Ancylometes cf. bogotensis. Thanks Stefan for looking into this one!
Thanks, Dan and welcome to Project Noah! Gilma, Dan is one out of my expert portfolio ;-)... Ancylometes bogotensis, female (I guess) looks to be quite a nice match. I would not dare to confirm that for 100%, but if I should do an ID, I would probably take this one as well... http://www.wandering-spiders.net/typo3temp/pics/leetz_bogotensis_panama_01_c299610131.jpg http://www.wandering-spiders.net/typo3temp/pics/leetz_bogotensis_colombia_01_97c140d714.jpg http://www.wandering-spiders.net/uploads/pics/Ancylometes__bogotensis_2_01.JPG http://www.wandering-spiders.net/uploads/pics/Ancylometes__bogotensis_1_01.jpg http://www.arachnovobica.de/myspiders/a-bogotensis2.jpg http://www.martingoss.co.uk/photogallery/Spiders_true/Ancylometes_bogotensis_male.jpg http://www.schlangenforum.ch/wbb2/4images/data/media/15/ancylometes_b33.jpg http://www.martingoss.co.uk/Spiders_true_gallery.html http://www.fotocommunity.com/pc/pc/display/27863594 http://www.wandering-spiders.net/ancylometes/gallery/
I get it, it sounds french not old fashion. My Father in law worked at the stock Market in London and he taught the family how to invest.... else where!! : )
Best translation would probably be portfolio or stock, a phrase from the financial world. Maybe I have to change it is portfolio instead of portefeuille, which might be a little bit old-fashioned. But I do not own a single share/stock myself, that makes me spending more time on Project Noah instead of "wasting" my time on the stock exchange ;-)...
I just opened my portefeuille ;-)... Let's wait and see... Phoneutria is still my favorite, but I wanna get closer (as usual)...
could it be, P. nigriventer ? and yes B for 'Bayucca", B for "Best" :).

No, no, we will find it for sure, give us just some more time. I will try to get more out of my portefeuille of experts...
Could be Phoneutria boliviensis, but I am not so experienced, that I dare to get closer than that or confirm Phoneutria boliviensis.
I found it!! what do you think bayucca, is it? Wandering Spider, Phoneutria boliviensis. I just hope it is not the one that it is the most venomous spider!!
WOW!! thank you bayucca, it looks so much like the wandering spider, Ctenidae, "Cupiennius coccineus, male" Thank you for all the research you do in every spotting.
I think this might be a Wandering Spider from the family Ctenidae. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8EV-A0FPy4E/TiuSXITfmPI/AAAAAAAAAbY/SCcm_U3Sz_o/s320/Leopard+wandering+spider.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/danproud/8531922752/in/set-72157630898399158 http://www.flickr.com/photos/danproud/8529256547/in/set-72157630898399158 http://www.flickr.com/photos/danproud/8530370218/in/set-72157630898399158 http://naturecloseups.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/00072017.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/danproud/8531922752/in/set-72157630898399158 http://www.flickr.com/photos/danproud/tags/ctenidae/
