Field Notes

Description:

My mom was hiding eggs on easter Sunday and said that these started swarming when she set an egg down on the ground. There were dozens and dozens of them.

Habitat:

Under fallen leaves on a wide, grassy space right next to a lake. The grass was very short there and is mowed often. Trees and thick undergrowth surround it.

Notes:

Identified by Jellis. Pictures taken with iPhone 5.

Comments (2)

Those are the nymphs ( juvenile stage ) of some sort of true bug; they are not beetles. I don't know ID off the top of my head.
