Paddy Earhead Bug

Leptocorisa acuta (the Paddy Earhead Bug), as its name suggests, is a pest of the rice crops, here in the Philippines. If you walk through the rice fields, you are sure to notice these bugs. You might only see a few, when the rice is still young, but as the crop approaches full ripeness, the number of the bugs just explodes and they can be seen in every direction. After harvesting, they can still be spotted (in fewer numbers) on tall grasses, leafy shrubs and in vegetable gardens, but I think this is the first time that I have seen Leptocorisa acuta on the leaves of a Mango Tree.
