Field Notes

Description:

Sparrow sized, black and discreet bird. Recognised by that white pattern on wing coverts. Sorry about the strong blur in the fourth click - but I found that the silhouette of Carp's tit was a useful detail for recognition. Anyway, I had no clearer pic of the species.

Habitat:

Observed in a communal garden in Warmquelle, a town in north-western part of Namibia, Kunene region. The region is dry, open acacia woodland or acacia tree-and-shrub thornveld landscape. It is very dry at the moment after a few years dry-spell, but still magnificent and full of wildlife.

Notes:

Carp's Tit is near endemic species, found in Namibia and Angola. Lucky lifer for me - I did not even know I had it, until I saw pics on my screen. In the tree I got this tit, there were five or more species; and I was after a Buffalo billed weaver, much larger bird and I took these three four shots purely by chance... Seems also a lifer for PN.
