Congratulations Albert, your Blue-Banded Bee has been voted Spotting of the Week! Action shots with contracting colors won you the vote, together with a general interest for pollinators. "Action and contrasting colors! Caught in flight and aiming for a melastoma flower, this Blue-Banded Bee (Amegilla zonata) has been voted Spotting of the Week. The genus Amegilla belongs to the tribe Anthophorini (digger bees), which are solitary bees which make nests in soil. Bees in the genus Amegilla are well-known pollinators of a wide range of crops. Amegilla zonata is widely distributed in southeast Asia. Visit the spotting to discover the bee's spectacular long tongue!" Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated Albert!
